Starting at Pasadena
Transition is an exciting time, that can also be a bit nerve-wracking and scary! For many primary students, this will be the first time they’ve changed schools and we look to make the transition as smooth as possible, so that your child feels part of the Pasadena whānau as soon as possible.
All the important information can be found in our Starting at Pasadena Booklet, including what happens on the first day of school.
Our goal is to ensure your child has a seamless transition from primary to intermediate, so they feel confident and happy at Pasadena. We have a strong focus on building relationships and connecting with others. To support this transition our Deputy Principal and Associate Principal, triangulate information about all the students who are starting at Pasadena each year, this includes:
- Student Enrolment Forms
- Student Profiles completed by their current teacher
- Transition Meetings with teachers, Deputy Principals and SENCOs from our contributing Primary Schools
- Information shared by parents
We use this information to place your child in a class that will be a great fit, with some supportive learning buddies. While not all of their friends may be in the same class as them, intermediate school is the perfect opportunity to meet new people and develop new friendships, which is an important skill that will set them up well for college.
If you have any information you would like to share to support your child’s transition, please email christine@pasadena.school.nz
