Welcome to Pasadena Intermediate

The Heart of Point Chevalier

Perfectly situated in the vibrant city-fringe suburb of Point Chevalier (“Point Chev”), Pasadena Intermediate offers international students the ultimate New Zealand experience. Our expansive, green campus provides a tranquil coastal lifestyle just moments from the beach, with fast, direct access to the excitement of Auckland’s CBD.

A Unique Educational Gateway

In New Zealand, Intermediate schools are unique, providing an education specifically designed for the “pre-teen” years. At Pasadena, we offer a 21st-century curriculum tailored to this transformative age. Our flexible, supportive environment helps students build the confidence and independence needed to excel in further study.

A Genuine Cultural Experience

Pasadena is proud to be home to a Rumaki Reo (Level 1 Total Immersion Māori) education. While international students are enrolled in our English classes, the presence of the Rumaki provides a rich, authentic environment for cultural exchange.

Our international learners have the unique opportunity to:

  • Learn and Share: Engage with Māori language and protocols (Tikanga) through school-wide events and daily interactions.
  • Cultural Exchange: Share their own heritage with local students, fostering a truly global perspective.
  • Inclusive Environment: While the Rumaki follows a Māori philosophy, all students come together for specialist subjects, sports, and cultural performances, ensuring a diverse and integrated school experience.

The Pasadena Way: Our Values

We believe that strong relationships are the foundation of personal excellence. Our students are supported to solve problems, work with others, and innovate through our core values:

  • Proud: We show respect for ourselves, our culture, and our school.
  • Active: We are engaged learners and active members of our local community.
  • Safe: We provide a secure “home away from home” where students make positive choices.
  • Achievers: We aim high, encouraging every student to reach their goals.

Beyond the Classroom

Our student-centered approach encourages learners to collaborate and create. Our integrated specialist programs offer hands-on experience in:

  • The Arts: Music, Dance, Drama, and Visual Arts.
  • Technology & Innovation: Food nutrition and hard/soft materials technology.

Whether exploring nearby attractions like the Auckland Zoo and MOTAT or discovering new talents in our specialist suites, Pasadena Intermediate ensures every student grows socially, intellectually, and culturally as a globally connected citizen.

Getting Here

  • From Auckland Airport: 25 minutes by car.

  • Public Transport: High-frequency bus routes connect Point Chevalier directly to the Auckland University district and the downtown waterfront.
