Uniform & Hats

It is fantastic to see our students wearing their Pasadena uniform with pride. A reminder that all uniform items should be clearly named in case they are misplaced. Lost property can be found in the sick bay. If students are unable to wear the correct uniform, please send a note with them to school so they can get a uniform pass from our Deputy or Assistant Principal. Crocs are not suitable for school.

Our school’s Sun Protection procedures state that all students must be wearing a school hat or cap when outside, as we must protect our students and staff from excessive exposure to the sun's UVR while they are at school, or involved with off-site school activities.

We also recommend that students wear sunscreen on sunny days (teachers have a generic sunscreen available in the classroom) and that rash vests be worn in the school pool.

Lateness

We would also like to emphasise the importance of being at school on time to support your child’s academic success and sense of wellbeing.  School starts at 8.45 am Monday to Thursday and 9 am on Fridays.

Young people need to be in their class before the bell so that they:

• can connect with their friends and teacher

• are organised and ready for learning

• can listen to important notices and find out about sporting, cultural and enrichment opportunities

• start the day calmly with a positive frame of mind

• form habits that will set them up for success

  
  

Children who arrive late are greatly disadvantaged because they miss starting the day with their peers and the beginning of lessons, which often leads to feelings of stress and anxiety. We understand that there may be rare occasions when you are unavoidably late due to unforeseen circumstances. On these occasions please make sure that you contact the school office to inform us when you will arrive. Students need to sign in at the office if they arrive after the roll is taken. As part of our procedures we wil be texting whānau if students are late.

Please be aware that roadworks on Meola Rd are continuing until April, so we anticipate that there will be ongoing heavy traffic on the surrounding roads. If you are travelling by car, please take this into consideration and leave a bit earlier than usual to allow for delays.

Sports News

Central Zone Tennis

In week 4, students from Pasadena attended the Central Zone Tennis competition for the first time in 3 years. The tournament was held at Auckland Tennis Centre in St Johns and was attended by Kiera Rm 3, Finley Rm 6 and Harry Rm 6. All students demonstrated the P.A.S.A. values as they played in either the singles or doubles draw. Congratulations to Harry who came 3rd overall in the boy's year 7 singles competition.

Pasadena Duathlon

Last Friday Pasadena held its annual school Duathlon. Students were split into year groups where they competed in a 2.8km fun run/walk and a swim to finish the course off. Classes wore different colours such as red, blue, green and purple to represent their FLEs(flexible learning environment) for the race. With the sun shining and students demonstrating our P.A.S.A values, it was an awesome day which many enjoyed. Well done to the following students who placed top 3 in their races:
